摘要: Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii is among the most commonly recognized toxigenic cyanobacteria associated with harmful algal blooms (HAB) in freshwater systems, and specifically multiple water-soluble toxins. Lipophilic metabolites from C. raciborskii, however, were previously shown to exert teratogenicity (i.e. inhibition of vertebrate development) zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryo model, suggesting presence additional bioactive compounds unrelated currently known In present study, a series teratogenic polymethoxy-1-alkenes (PMA) identified, purified chemically characterized an otherwise well-characterized strain raciborskii. Although PMA have been identified other cyanobacteria, this first time they HAB species. Following their identification taxonomic distribution was additionally investigated by chemical screening green algal) culture collection. Screening suggests that these are distributed phylogenetically diverse taxa. Furthermore, parallel collection, using model teratogenicity, found closely correlate developmental toxicity isolates. Taken together, data suggest contribute as well apparently several taxonomically disparate cyanobacterial genera, may, accordingly, HAB.
