摘要: This study reports the results of a simulator-based assessment driver response to two different urban highway work zone configurations. One configuration represented an existing design which was contrasted with second that presented reduced taper length prototype design. Twenty-one drivers navigated zones in conditions, one and without lead vehicle; this case bus. Measures speed, braking, travel path, collision frequency were recorded. Drivers significantly closer boundary area proximity effect moderated by significant interaction between vehicle such interactive effects also observed for speed at end number collisions within itself. These suggest poses increase risk both personnel, primarily when anticipation is foreshortened viewing distances. Increase degree offset reduction overall exposure creates. The benefits limitations simulation-based approach prediction behavior configurations are discussed.
