摘要: Plant-derived natural products have long-standing utility toward treating degenerative diseases. It is estimated that about two-thirds of world population depend on traditional medicine for primary medical needs. Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum Linn.), a short-living annual medicinal plant belonging to Fabaceae family, used extensively in various parts the as herb, food, spice, and medicine. considered one oldest plants its health-promoting effects been cited Ayurveda Chinese The investigations into chemical composition pharmacological actions seen renaissance recent years. Extensive preclinical clinical research outlined pharmaceutical uses fenugreek antidiabetic, antihyperlipidemic, antiobesity, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, galactogogue miscellaneous effects, including improving women's health. are attributed diverse array phytoconstituents. phytochemical analysis reveals presence steroids, alkaloids, saponins, polyphenols, flavonoids, lipids, carbohydrates, amino acids, hydrocarbons. This review aims summarize critically analyze current available literature understand potential disease prevention health improvement with special emphasis cellular molecular mechanisms. Current challenges new directions also discussed.
