摘要: Serologic screening of patients for Lyme borreliosis began at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (BPEI) in September 1987. This report reviews data on 641 sera from that date up to January 1, 1990. Initially only immunofluorescent (IFA) IgG and IgM titers were obtained. Because increasing numbers borderline positive IFA tests, a enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was added April 1988. Also, because significant serologic cross reactivity exposed Treponema pallidum, rapid plasma reagin (RPR) fluorescent treponemal antibody absorption (FTA-ABS) tests panel. Of all tested, 10% showed reactive RPR 22% FTA-ABS tests. greater than or equal 1:64 17% sera, ELISA 1.25 15% sera. Our experience agrees with reports serum VDRL are nonreactive borreliosis, false can occur borreliosis. The importance getting four tests--RPR, FTA-ABS, IgM, ELISA--in suspected spirochetal disease is emphasized.
