摘要: Kallikrein 8 (KLK8) is a serine protease functioning in the central nervous system, and essential many aspects of neuronal activities. Sequence comparison gene expression analysis among diverse primate species identified human-specific splice form KLK8 (type II) with preferential human brain, which may contribute to origin cognition. To gain insights into physiological biochemical role this novel form, we conducted functional analyses type II KLK8. Our results show that abundantly expressed embryonic stem cells embryo brain samples, suggesting potential embryogenesis. There are dramatic variations different individuals regions, reflection its dynamic neural Furthermore, transcription start site (TSS) tissue-specific, brain-specific TSS found humans indicating specialization. vitro assay shows there II-specific intermediate protein although processed end-point enzymes same for both I KLK8, emergence likely leads modifications
