摘要: Asian Americans are the fastest growing and second largest foreign-born ethnic group in United States. Cancer is a leading cause of death among Americans. The Tobacco Education Awareness Research (ATECAR) Special Population Network, Center for Health, aimed to reduce or eliminate cancer health disparities these diverse, underserved populations Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, York. ATECAR logic model was adapted from variety conceptual frameworks develop implement network's multifaceted research, training, awareness, outreach programs. basis developmental phases network that included (1) needs assessment, infrastructure, partnership building; (2) intervention mentorship; (3) evaluation, dissemination, diffusion. Community involvement occurred at every operational level ensure program sustainability. Between 2000 2005, consisted 88 partners, representing cross-section communities, academia, centers, service agencies, ensuring viable infrastructure multidimensional ATECAR's research covered tobacco control, prevention intervention, clinical trials. More than 22 projects were conducted their results disseminated peer-reviewed journals. also trained 76 junior researchers special population investigators 1014 community professionals disparity issues. multimedia awareness education reached over 116,000 Asians. achievements have had profound impact on established trend toward reducing disparities, especially 2006. © 2006 American Society.
