摘要: Folic acid (FA) is the synthetic form of folate (vitamin B9), present in supplements and fortified foods. During ultraviolet (UV) radiation FA degraded to 6-formylpterin (FPT) pterin-6-carboxylic (PCA) which generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) may be phototoxic. The aim study was investigate production ROS phototoxicity FA, FPT PCA skin cells during UVA exposure. were studied immortal human keratinocytes (HaCaT) malignant (A431 WM115) Increased photoinactivation vitro observed exposure presence PCA. HPLC analysis revealed that 10 μM photodegradation around 2.1 5.8-fold faster than 5 1 FA. Photodegradation concentration dependent, even non-phototoxic doses its photoproducts, PCA, high levels vitro. are phototoxic topical or unmetabolized UV via sunlight, sunbeds phototherapy lead production, cutaneous deficiency, photocarcinogenesis other deleterious effects. Further studies needed confirm whether can decrease serum humans taking using cosmetic creams with
