摘要: New approaches are needed to fight the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) epidemic, now in its third decade United States. The epidemiology of HIV past decades illustrates these new challenges. Annual incident cases acquired syndrome (AIDS) declined 38% and deaths from AIDs 63% between 1995 1998, due primarily introduction combination antiretroviral therapy (ART).1,2 However, annual number AIDS remained stable 1999 through 2006, estimated infections occurring annually U.S. has since 2000.1,3 This article seeks put current emphasis Centers for Disease Control Prevention (CDC) on testing programs context epidemic; describe major CDC prevention initiatives that involve testing, focusing Advancing (AHP) initiative;4 what been learned first five years strategies preventing infection were outlined AHP initiative.
