摘要: Exponentially growing cells (23°C) of Saccharomyces cerevisiae were conditioned to heat (37°C) or osmotic dehydration (0.7 M NaCl) for a period one hour, whereafter thermo- and osmotolerance the studied. Thermotolerance was measured as survival at 47°C, while determined capacity culture form colonies on 1.5 NaCl medium. Cells shown be thermotolerant cells; death rate constant being 20-fold lower than non-conditioned cells. Heat conditioned, cells, however, not osmotolerant. The physiological overlap between thermotolerance thus unidirectional. enzyme sn-glycerol 3-P dehydrogenase (GPDH) (EC 1.1.1.8), induced by stress, but upon exposure heat. Thus GPDH shock protein.
