摘要: Observations from ultrastructural and immunohistochemical studies suggest that spongiform lesions in the gerbil cochlear nucleus are derived principally dendrites. Almost one-fifth of lesion profiles examined ultrastructurally exhibited synaptic contacts with axon terminals. In addition, approximately 80% immunopositive for dendrite-specific microtubule associated protein, MAP2. Ultrastructural showed a small percentage (8%) were myelinated axons, although none immunohistochemically labelled antibodies to tau protein. Staining astrocyte-specific markers GFAP, S-100 vimentin yielded equivocal results, but did not support major role astrocytes formation. The histological profile matches seen some other well characterized types degeneration.
