摘要: Saponins are steroidal or terpenoid-based glycosides with surface active properties. A saponin, CAY-1, a molecular weight of 1243.35 Da, was isolated and purified to homogeneity from commercially available dry, ground fruit Capsicum frutescens. CAY-1 shown be potent fungicide for the germinating conidia Aspergillus flavus, A. fumigatus, parasiticus niger species-dependent LD90 values between 3 20 microM. Activity against some species affected by test medium used. In vitro assays, effective Pneumocystis carinii (IC50): 9.5 microM) Candida albicans (IC90: 6.2 microM). had no effect on viability nongerminating two filamentous fungi, P. C. albicans, nor conidial type Fusarium oxysporum. It ineffective bacteria Enterobacter agglomerans, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus. not cytotoxic 549 lung carcinoma cells HeLa at fungicidal concentrations. The results indicate that is an species, concentrations below threshold mammalian cell toxicity.
