摘要: Lead in bone can be measured vivo using gamma-rays from a 109Cd source to excite lead K X-rays. Normalization of X-ray amplitudes that the elastically backscattered 88 keV produces determination concentration mineral is accurate and insensitive variations measurement or geometry. For tibia measurements, typical precision (1 SD) +/- 5 micrograms (g mineral)-1 achieved for an effective dose equivalent 2.1 microSv. Measurement made any superficial site, but will vary approximately as inverse square root mass sampled. The apparatus required this technique readily transportable, mobile laboratory facilities are easily established.
