摘要: Abstract Background Given the movement of molecules within tissue that occurs naturally by endogenous electric fields, we examined possibility using a low-voltage DC field to move charged substances in rodent peripheral nerve vitro. New method Labeled sugar- and protein-based markers were applied peroneal then 5–10 V/cm was used extra- intraneural compartments. Physiological anatomical properties also assessed same stimulation vivo. Results We demonstrate vitro labeled compounds are capable moving along nerve, vivo changes excitability but without damage. Conclusions The results suggest electrophoresis could be molecules, perhaps therapeutically, safely nerves.
