摘要: The extraordinary advances in bone density technology since the 1970s have enhanced physician’s ability to detect and manage metabolic disease. At same time, these created a dilemma as physicians attempted compare results obtained on early DPA devices with today’s DXA devices. As has advanced, data from pencil-beam systems is being compared fan-array systems. Data one manufacturer’s device may need be another device. This situation not dissimilar circumstances during evolution of other types quantitative measurement techniques used clinical medicine. For example, some parameter blood initially been performed using type assay, only later replaced by different assay. There ranges normal, depending assay even laboratory. Although it would ideal for patient followed technique any reason return year after laboratory tested this reasonable expectation. In context densitometry, useful measurements originally made DPA, DXA. Additionally, differences between values their respective reference must appreciated.
