摘要: Introduction Despite its high incidence and severe morbidity, the physiopathogenesis of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is still unknown. Here, we looked for early anomalies in AIS which are likely to be cause spinal deformity could also targeted by treatments. We focused on vestibular system, suspected acting pathogenesis exhibits an end organ with size shape fixed before birth. hypothesize that, adolescents scoliosis, morphological were already present at birth possibly have caused other abnormalities. Materials Methods The 18 9 controls evaluated MRI a prospective case controlled study. studied lateral semicircular canal orientation three positions relative midline. Lateral function was vestibulonystagmography after bithermal caloric stimulation. Results left more vertical further from midline (p = 0.01) these two parameters highly correlated (r -0.6; p 0.02). These associated functional (lower excitability, higher paresis), but not significantly different (p>0.05). Conclusion Adolescents exhibit asymmetry, probably determined well Since system influences vestibulospinal pathway, hypothalamus, cerebellum, this indicates that possible later morphological, hormonal neurosensory observed AIS. Moreover, simple SCC measurement demonstrated here used detection AIS, selection children close follow-up, initiation preventive treatment occurs.
