摘要: This study sought to examine whether early cardiac alterations could be detected by left atrial (LA) strain in patients with risk for abnormalities. In this cross-sectional and retrospective study, we included (n = 234) without (n = 48) abnormalities (i.e. those arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus and/or a history of coronary artery disease) similar age preserved ventricular (LV) systolic diastolic function according standard criteria. LA was significantly altered comparison (29.2 ± 8.6 vs. 38.5 ± 12.6%; rate impaired strain: 18.8% 0%; all p < 0.01) the most sensitive parameter detect other functional parameters (rate rate, total emptying fraction, expansion index 3.8%, 7.3%, respectively). Moreover, even absence subtle LV (rates 13.9% 6.8%), albeit lesser extent than an abnormal longitudinal or mitral annular e' velocities 48.5% 24.4%). Regarding clinical relevance these findings, < 23%) linked exertional dyspnea (OR 3.5 [1.7-7.0]) adjusting analyses age, gender conclusion, the findings from suggest that LA measurements useful that these dyspnea.
