摘要: Publisher Summary Postmortem studies of schizophrenia conducted over the past 15 years have demonstrated alterations in various markers for GABA system that are consistent with a reduction inhibitory modulation limbic lobe. These changes show preferential distribution layer II anterior cingulate cortex (ACCx) and sectors CA3 CA2 hippocampus. Both these sites receive rich projection from basolateral amygdala (BLa), suggest this latter region might play pivotal role induction abnormalities lobe schizophrenics. To explore possibility, “partial” rodent model neural circuitry has been applied to study disorder. When A receptor antagonist, picrotoxin (PICRO), is stereotaxically infused into BLa awake, freely moving rats, reductions number cells induced CA3/2 but not CA1, pattern remarkably similar seen schizophrenia.
