摘要: BACKGROUND Typical practice is to transfuse group-specific plasma units; however, there are situations where group AB (universal donor) issued A, B, or O recipients. If demand for exceeds collections, potential shortage. This project explored the patterns of utilization at hospitals around world. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS The study had two phases: a survey that inquired about hospital inventory, policies, and transfusion practices retrospective review 2014 calendar year data participants submitted information on disposition including ABO unit recipient, location, select indications. Recruitment occurred through snowball sampling. Descriptive analyses were performed. RESULTS Survey received from 25 centers across 10 countries; those, 15 contributed collection component. These transfused total 43,369 units during period. Only 1496 5541 (27%) Transfusion practices, variable sites. CONCLUSION Group frequently non-AB Whether transfusing 73% recipients ideal inventory management strategy remains be determined.
