摘要: The Republic of Haiti is one only several countries in the Western Hemisphere which canine rabies still endemic. Estimation methods have predicted that 130 human deaths occur per year, yet existing surveillance mechanisms detected few these cases. Likewise, capacity has had limited capacity, detecting two rabid dogs on average. In 2013, initiated a community-based animal program comprised components: active community bite investigation and passive investigation. From January 2013 –December 2014, 778 suspect animals were reported for Rabies was laboratory-confirmed 70 (9%) an additional 36 cases identified based clinical diagnosis (5%), representing 18-fold increase reporting compared to three years before implemented.
