摘要: SUMMARY Some histochemical observations on the pituitaries of three marine and fresh- water teleost fish have been made. It has shown that cells this gland, which are stained identically in different species by Azan, do not always give identical histo- chemical reactions, same after histological staining similar tinctorial affinities may be differentiated histochemically. These observa- tions discussed with regard to function gland. HE histology pituitary described a number authors (Kerr, 1942 a, b\ Green, 1951; Olivereau, 1954 b), but these descriptions added little knowledge histophysio- logy gland is known sites hormone production. Histological studies indicated so-called basiphils or cyanophils concerned elaboration gonadotrophic (Rasquin, 1949; Scruggs, 1951), while second cyanophil type identified as thyrotroph Astyanax mexicanus (Atz, 1953) Phoxinus laevis (Barrington Matty, 1955). Both acidophils implicated release ACTH (Rasquin Stoll, 1955; Chavin, 1956), somatotrophin (Olivereau, 19546). However, except for use periodic acid/Schiff (PAS) reaction there no investigation adenohypophysis. Furthermore, it recently pituitary—generally assumed PAS-negative—may PAS-positive (Matty, 1957), was thought general cytochemical desirable order provide an additional basis further investigations physiology
