摘要: We report five cases of reactive mediastinal spindle cell proliferations associated with anthracosis and anthracosilicosis that simulated a malignant process both on clinical morphological grounds. Clinically, the lesions formed radiographically evident masses or were infiltrative. Microscopically, prominent storiform pattern intertwining cells was found in four cases. This proliferation extended outside lymph node capsule three surrounded nerves two. Because this combination features, submitted diagnoses included neoplasm The immunoreactive for histiocytic markers focally contained fine anthracotic pigment. All featured nodular hyaline scars polarizable material suggestive silica, although history industrial exposure obtained only two No lesion has enlarged otherwise progressed during follow-up ranging from 6 to 48 months. differential diagnosis includes variety neoplasms, including fibrous histiocytoma, follicular dendritic tumor, melanoma, Kaposi's sarcoma.
