摘要: Stroke is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Few therapeutic options with proven efficacy are available for the treatment this disabling disease. Lithium gold standard bipolar disorder. Moreover, lithium has been shown to exhibit neuroprotective effects as other neurological disorders. This study was undertaken examine on brain inflammatory mediators levels, fever, in postischemic stroke rats. Ischemic induced by occlusion mid cerebral artery (MCAO). Pretreatment single dose at 2 hours before MCAO induction significantly reduced elevation interleukin- (IL-) 6 prostaglandin E2 levels post-MCAO rats, compared vehicle-treated animals. On hand, did not affect IL-1α, IL-10, IL-12, tumor necrosis factor-α pretreatment alter fever mortality. These results suggest that acute markedly
