摘要: Brain stroke is often accompanied by a high fever, which insensitive to blockade with classic antipyretic drugs known inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandin E 2 (PGE ), proximal mediator fever associated infection. The molecular mechanism mostly unknown, and has not been thoroughly investigated. One characteristics an extravasation erythrocytes into brain tissue followed release hemoglobin free heme. In present study we have tested hypothesis that heme itself can induce after releasing brain. was conducted on Sprague Dawley rats instrumented biotelemetry devices monitor deep body temperature, implanted cannulae projected lateral ventricle. We demonstrate heme-L-lysinate microinfused intraventricularly (icv) induces dose-dependent lasting ca. 8 hours. Injection provoked significant elevation PGE in rat cerebro-spinal fluid collected 3 hours post-injection. induced blocked icv injection anti- antibody. It affected, however, intraperitoneal administration indomethacin, cyclooxygenase inhibitor. conclude heme-induced may underlie fever.
