Viral pyrogen affects thermoregulatory behavior of wintering Planorbarius corneus (L.) snails (Mollusca: Gastropoda)

摘要: Exogenous pyrogens, isolated from viruses, bacteria and fungi, are widely used in research on fever endotherms. The present study investigates the use of viral pyrogen poly (I:C) for inducing symptoms so-called behavioral ectothermic animals Planorbarius corneus (Mollusca: Gastropoda). observations thermoregulatory behavior snails placed temperature gradient showed that which were injected with 750 ng g � 1 polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid-poly (I:C), after remaining latent more than 24 h, moved to warmer areas (with around 30 1C) stayed there until end experiment. Transferred culture, they lived a period similar control snails. Our indicate P. can exhibit response could be as model invertebrates. & 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
