摘要: Background: Estrogen receptor (ER) status and progesterone (PgR) are strong prognostic predictive markers in breast carcinomas. Steroid receptors fragile optimal handling of both cytological histological material, including fixation, is crucial. Liquid based material offers the possibility to prepare a number slides from one lesion increasingly being used for immunocytochemistry. It also several smears store these at different temperatures as well storing residual liquid. Materials Methods: The samples consisted fine needle aspirate 53 Direct liquid preparations were parallel immunocytochemical detection ER PgR status. Slides suspensions stored -20°C -74°C 3 6 months, respectively. fixed primarily 4% formalin. specimens post-fixed All subjected microwave-stimulated epitope retrieval. Antibody concentrations 1:150 1:200 preparation methods. immunostaining program was identical Results : had statistically non-significant higher percentage positive cases compared direct smears. Specimens prepared respectively, showed virtually unchanged reactivity (P = 0.002). Conclusions slide seem offer an pre-fixation preservation ER/PgR carcinoma cells. Post-fixation with formalin followed by retrieval before recommended. Long-time storage or least months without significant loss immunoreactivity feasible. They may be internal negative controls.
