摘要: Ovarian cancers are often diagnosed at a late stage, after the cancer cells have spread to extraovarian sites. Failure diagnose these tumors earlier may reflect lack of symptoms and need for sensitive, reliable screening test. Alternatively, this can be explained by hypothesis that some tumor implants do not represent metastatic from primary but instead multiple developing simultaneously in peritoneal epithelium. If is case, patients with advanced ovarian never had stage I disease, making early detection theoretically impossible. In study, we examined mutational pattern p53 gene 9 epithelial using tissue collected different sites within same patient. all cases, was identical patient, strongly suggesting were unifocal origin tissues derived single origin.
