摘要: Cortical spreading depolarization (CSD) is an electrophysiologic phenomenon found mostly in the setting of neurologic injury resulting disturbance ion homeostasis and leading to changes local vascular response. The bioelectric etiology CSD shares similarities those epileptic disorders, yet relationship between seizures unclear, with several studies observing cortical depression before, during, after seizure activity, thus obscuring our understanding whether activity potentiates or limits vice versa. sampling has exhibited how redistribution concentrations intra- extracellular environments interplay excitation electrical CSD. Modeling both suggested that synchronizes affected tissue, creating a favorable environment for activity; however, other have demonstrated opposite: epileptiform initiating waves Further underscored role response subsequent ischemia contributes epileptogenesis. Investigations migraine, traumatic brain injury, injuries suggest drugs may target Manipulations occurrence nature can potentially alter threshold perhaps minimize immediate long-term sequelae associated epilepsy.
