摘要: Changes of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in the forebrain rats with stab wounds were determined by quantitative immunoblots and immunohistochemistry. Bilateral made stereotaxically cortex hippocampus. In control rats, scalp was retracted depressions etched on intact skull. At various times up to 21 days postoperation, one cerebral hemisphere homogenized, proteins separated polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis quantitated densitometry. The contralateral immunostained for GFAP. Three hours postoperation GFAP+ cells detected around wound but there no increase total 6 h GFAP decreased 80% sham-operated value number lower, compared controls, layer 1 cortex, corpus callosum, cingulum, external capsule, internal hippocampus, optic tracts blood vessels. This early relative decrease levels actually due an which mounted a stronger gliotic response during first 24 h. neither group animals did drops below those unoperated animals. began increase. intensity reactive glia vicinity increased steadily, appearing reach maximum at about 7 days, then declining significantly days. reaction most pronounced Total reached 180% declined 117% days.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
