摘要: This study evaluates the efficacy of lycopene in treatment oral leukoplakia and compares two different doses with a placebo. Fifty-eight clinically histologically diagnosed patients were selected for study. They randomly divided into three groups. Group A: (n = 20; 8 mg lycopene/day), B: 4 lycopene/day) C: 18; placebo). The duration therapy was months. Outcome assessed as well histologically. Post-treatment on follow-up Student's 't' test used statistical evaluation. Clinically Groups A, B, C had mean response 80%, 66.25% 12.5% respectively. Histological evaluation too similar results. Patients receiving both regimes show highly significant difference compared to placebo (Group C). observed effect suggests that it can be effectively safely management leukoplakia.
