摘要: Abstract Argon clusters prepared in a supersonic-jet expansion are photoionized with monochromatized synchrotron radiation the L 3 /L 2 regime (240–280 eV). The cluster cations and their fragments mass selected quadrupole spectrometer. photoionization-efficiency curves of small ions already show similar features which known from X-ray absorption solid argon. These solid-like become more dominant when cluster-size distribution neutral precursors is increased. spectra analysed terms near-edge (NEXAFS) extended fine structure (EXAFS). NEXAFS shows cluster-specific different compared to atom solid. In energy above 260 eV, EXAFS-like structures have been identified. Possible fragmentation mechanisms for core-level-excited argon discussed.
