Understanding the Experience of stress on initiation of Haemodialysis: A Phenomenological Study

摘要: Background: Research evidence on stress among chronic kidney disease/end stage renal disease patients in India is sparse. Experience of a subjective phenomenon. Hence qualitative research methodology helps to gain real insight about factors that cause haemodialysis patients. The objective this study was understand the stressors experienced by initiation treatment.Methods: A phenomenological approach used into lived experience patients’ treatment. conducted outpatient units two private hospitals Bangalore, India. Participants consisted six males and four females who were for between 2 months 36 months. Individual semi-structured interviews with all participants. All audio-taped transcribed verbatim .Results: Content analysis analyze data. Three main themes emerged namely ‘Physical stress- ors’, ‘psychological stressors’ ‘Socioeconomic stressors’. Pain, tiredness loss appetite predominant physical reported Shock depression diagnosis dialysis, difficulty adhering prescribed therapeutic regimen, feeling being burden family, fear complications uncertainty life psychological range socioeconomic participants which included; Loss employment, financial problems, ability perform activities daily living limited social life.Conclusion: Findings can be utilized design pre-haemodialysis preparatory program implemented stage-4 prepare them haemodialysis.Â
