摘要: Recent studies suggest that sex differences in cognitive function may involve effects of circulating androgens on the developing cerebral cortex and hippocampus. The mechanism these is not understood. In rhesus monkeys, aromatase activity present hippocampus several areas during late fetal early postnatal life. Similarly, work rats mice indicates be capable estrogen biosynthesis development. These results are consistent with hypothesis actions local estrogen-mediated similar to those responsible for differentiation hypothalamic mechanisms controlling reproductive function.
