摘要: The purpose of this study was to examine the cross-sectional relation between reported levels parental smoking restriction and several behavioral cognitive variables in a sample 757 (363 males, 394 females) adolescent smokers. Experimenters administered surveys students homerooms three Florida high schools. After controlling for student age, gender, status, results revealed that more restrictive policies were significantly associated with less on weekdays weekend days, greater latency first cigarette day, motivation quit smoking, confidence ability higher estimated risk perception regarding health consequences smoking. Results also 44% smokers their parents or legal guardians did not know they smoked tobacco. These findings suggest restrictions may have potential impede progression adult behavior by reducing rates nicotine dependence, increasing quit, self-confidence perception. Parental present obstacles inconveniences make cessation attractive option.
