摘要: Background Apathy is a common and problematic symptom of several neurodegenerative illnesses, but its neuroanatomical bases are not understood. Objective To determine the regions associated with apathy in subjects mild Alzheimer's disease (AD) using method that accounts for significant co-linearity regional atrophy neuropsychiatric symptoms. Methods We identified 57 AD (CDR = 1) symptoms Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) database. performed multivariate multiple regression LASSO regularization on all subscales Neuropsychiatric Inventory whole-brain ROI volumes calculated from their baseline MRIs FreeSurfer. compared our results to those previous study same patients frontotemporal dementia (FTD) corticobasal syndrome (CBS). Results Of symptoms, showed most robust associations subjects. Atrophy following were independently apathy: ventromedial prefrontal cortex; ventrolateral posterior cingulate cortex adjacent lateral bank superior temporal sulcus. These replicate studies FTD CBS patients, mostly agree literature AD, correspond Medial Orbital Prefrontal Cortex networks non-human primates. Conclusion The current study, laboratory, suggest impairment brain involved arousal, threat response, reward processing FTD.
