摘要: In recent years, the scientific community has undertaken research on plant extracts, searching for compounds with pharmacological activities that can be used in diverse fields of medicine. Calendula officinalis L. is known to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and wound healing properties when treat skin burns. Therefore, purpose this study was analyze effects C. initial phase Achilles tendon healing. Wistar rats were separated three groups: (Cal)—rats a transected treated topical applications cream then euthanized 7 days after injury; Control (C)—rats only vehicle transection; Normal (N)—rats without tenotomy. Higher concentrations hydroxyproline (an indicator total collagen) non-collagenous proteins observed Cal group relation C group. Zymography showed no difference amount isoforms metalloproteinase-2 metalloproteinase-9, between groups. Polarization microscopy images analysis presented slightly higher birefringence compared sections tendons stained toluidine blue, groups metachromasy as N Immunocytochemistry chondroitin-6-sulfate conclusion, application transection increases collagen proteins, well organization Anat Rec, 298:428–435, 2015. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
