摘要: It has been previously shown that the crude venom of Tityus serrulatus can cause convulsions. This study was designed to investigate neurotoxic effects B, C, G, and K fractions isolated from this venom. Intravenous injection these in mice (0.6 - 6.0 mg/kg body weight) showed C fraction is a potent convulsant G decreased threshold for tonic hand limb extension elicited by transauricular electroshock. Unilateral fractions, but not fraction, into hippocampus rats µg) caused electroencephalographic alterations consisting spikes epileptic discharges began evolved cortex. The following motor signs were observed: movements facial muscles, wet dog shake, immobility, myoclonus, wild-running with clonus, some cases, loss postural control. Intrahippocampal neuronal at site as well other hippocampal areas. effect on epileptiform activity dose-dependent. severity ipsilateral correlated loss. electrographic, behavioral, histological changes induced similar those obtained drugs are commonly used induce convulsion. may be studied work.
