摘要: Peroxidized low-density lipoprotein (p-LDL) has been previously demonstrated to be preferentially cytotoxic certain malignant cells compared normal of the same type. We present evidence that p-LDL is at least partially taken up through LDL receptor and it becomes localized in lysosomes. The integrity lysosomes p-LDL-treated compromised, leakage their contents into cytosol occurs. This occurs early precedes mitochondrial dysfunction. Brefeldin A inhibits this leakage, perhaps by interfering with traffic between endosomes Electron micrographs various times suggest a mechanism cell death which resembles aspects broad definition apoptosis. However, we observed following p-LDL-induced release lysosomal essentially unique, released enzymes degrading from within. process should described as endopepsis.
