摘要: Around the world clinical professionals have increased their involvement in management of health services. However evidence to suggest that these changes will lead improved performance remains fragmented. In this paper we address matter focussing on impact clinicians appointed boards directors English NHS hospital trusts. Although number involved strategic governance trusts is relatively low by international standards, they do appear an overall performance. Drawing published information from trust annual reports, publicly available measures Healthcare Commission and data gathered Dr Foster over a three year period (2006-9), reports two main findings. First, analysis reveals significant positive association between higher percentage quality ratings service providers, especially where doctors are concerned. This influence also confirmed relation lower morbidity rates tests exclude possibility reverse causality (doctors joining already successful organisations). Second, not find same level support for professions such as nurses other allied turned directors.
