Governance in the UK Public Sector: the Involvement of the Governing Board

摘要: Governing boards are a prominent feature of many public sector organizations today. These have been modelled on the private board directors. Like company boards, one their main functions is to provide strategic leadership and policy direction for organization. The role managers chief executives implement this. This paper examines extent involvement board, school governing body, in activity. Using empirical evidence from number semi-structured interviews conducted schools, its findings indicate that bodies not involved at high level strategy within schools. Rather, headteachers more likely be undertaking this Reflections made about relevance ‘board directors’ model both generally.
