Periodontal disease: links with serum lipid/ triglyceride levels? Review and new data.

摘要: Abstract Evidence now supports an intriguing role for serum lipids/triglycerides in modulation of the host immune response to infection. This paper will review studies that have been conducted humans and various animal models association between elevated (i.e. hyperlipidaemia) periodontitis (PD). We also present new data rats suggests a bi-directional relationship hyperlipidaemia PD, i.e. PD itself may be able modulate lipid levels. introduce evidence from other type dietary lipids is important immune/inflammatory response. Overall, presented herein suggest further investigation using epidemiological experimental approaches warranted.
