摘要: This paper discusses a successful public involvement effort that addressed and resolved several highly controversial water management issues involving environmental flood risks associated with an electrical generation facility in British Columbia. It begins discussion of concepts for designing involvement, summarizing research indicates why individuals groups may find it difficult to make complex choices. Reasons the range current practices are discussed. Next, four principles group decision process outlined, emphasizing decision-aiding include “value-focused thinking” “adaptive management.” The next sections discuss Alouette River Stakeholder Committee terms objectives, participation, process, methods structuring values creating alternatives, information sources, results. Discussion conclusions complete paper.
