摘要: A series of six experiments offers converging evidence that there is no fixed dominance hierarchy for the perception textured patterns, and in doing so, highlights importance recognizing multidimensionality texture perception. The relative bias between vision touch was reversed or considerably altered using both discrepancy nondiscrepancy paradigms. This shift achieved merely by directing observers to judge different dimensions same surface. Experiments 1, 4, 5 showed relatively strong emphasis on visual as opposed tactual cues regarding spatial density raised dot patterns. In contrast, 2, 3, 6 demonstrated greater when were instructed roughness surfaces. results discussed terms a modality appropriateness interpretation intersensory bias. weighted averaging model appeared describe nature integration process Language: en
