摘要: Object To report the morbidity and long term results in treatment of paragangliomas by transarterial embolization with ethylene vinyl alcohol (Onyx), either as preoperative or palliative treatment. Methods Between September 2005 2012, 18 jugulotympanic, 7 vagal, 4 carotid body (CBPs) underwent Onyx embolization, accordingly to our head neck multidisciplinary team9s decision. CBPs were embolized preoperatively. Jugulotympanic vagal surgery when feasible, otherwise was carried out alone, combination radiotherapy tympanic case skull base extension. Treatment results, clinical MRI follow-up data recorded. Results In all cases, devascularization at least 60% initial tumor blush obtained; 6 patients two embolizations. Post-embolization, 8 presented cranial nerve palsy, partial complete regression (mean 31 months, range 3–86 months), except for 2 1 hypoglossal palsy. 10 preoperatively; 70% cured after 30% showed residual tumor. 19 received whom 5 3 post-embolization. Long resulted volume stability (75%) extension intracranial compartments. more difficult surgical dissection cases. Conclusions is a valuable alternative jugulotympanic paragangliomas; radiosurgery should be considered selected Preoperative not recommended.
