摘要: The Ti 3 d electronic structure of 2 O across metal–insulator transition (MIT) has been investigated by means polarization-dependent soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) at the p edge. XAS spectra exhibit a remarkable linear dichroism (LD) between polarization vectors incident light parallel and perpendicular to ion pair along c -axis. LD intensity is significantly reduced 520 K in metallic phase comparison with that 300 insulating phase, indicating large change 1 g e π orbital occupations. results are qualitatively consistent recent theory, where MIT due configuration -axis driven t level splitting relative on-site exchange interaction.
