摘要: Abstract Objective The aim of this study is to confirm the theoretical colour predictions for single and double layers dental composite materials on an opaque backing. Methods Single resins were fabricated, placed in optical contact with a grey backing measured spectral radiance. reflectance directly determined. Absorption scattering coefficients as previously reported, thickness effective utilized theoretically predict layer using corrected Kubelka–Munk theory. For predicted was used second layer. Colour differences, both CIELAB CIEDE2000 formulae, discrepancy between each determined its corresponding colour. Results difference discrepancies generally ranged around perceptibility threshold but consistently below respective acceptability threshold. Conclusion This theory can resin within limits also limits. Clinical significance could therefore be incorporated into computer-based measuring instruments that automate shade selections more first under translucent those clinical situations where underlying background desirable final measured.
