摘要: An infant whose mother was a 17-year-old juvenile diabetic had the syndrome of phocomelic embryopathy (caudal dysplasia). The girl showed cleft palate, abnormal ears, renal abnormalities, and severe peromelia lower limbs with left leg vestigial. Cases have been recognized as distinct only since 1964, occur prediabetic well mothers. A maternal metabolic defect more subtle than hyperglycemia may cause caudal dysplasia. It be similar to "insulin micromelia" produced in chickens by insulin injection incubating egg. On other hand, alloxan diabetes mice is associated fetal limb abnormalities. not clear whether human related or hypoglycemia, direct influence molecule.
