摘要: Preparedness of the general population plays a key role in effective implementation protective actions case nuclear emergency (e.g., evacuation or intake iodine tablets). In this context, good communication management actors with public along entire cycle preparedness-response-recovery is paramount importance. This article aims at providing better understanding way people process communicated messages and factors that may influence how they do this. particular, it investigates information reception as part processing precrisis communication. As study, context was chosen, has been tackled to lesser extent literature. The empirical data used for study originated from large-scale opinion survey Belgium. One topic addressed campaign distribution tablets, preparedness emergencies. findings demonstrate systematic predictors have stronger on reception, compared heuristic predictors. latter are only minor involved information. hypothesized pattern--that more specific knowledge about field relates higher information--was confirmed Contrary expectations, results showed high perception radiation risks were less attentive actions. People little confidence authorities also likely low
