摘要: Abstract We report results on a metallurgical investigation of the Al-Pd-Mn phase diagram in region quasicrystalline field. Liquidus fields have been determined for icosahedral, decagonal and several periodic compounds which are approximant crystals quasicrystals. Structure analyses these phases carried out by transmission electron microscopy. As defined from linear phason strain field theory, different crystal approximants can be distinguished as belonging either to icosahedral or phase. An equilibrium between modulated has also identified. The modulations occur along threefold axes.
