摘要: Twenty-nine clear-plaque mutants of bacteriophage lambda were isolated from a Shigella dysenteriae lysogen. Three associated with insertions in the cI gene: two due to insertion IS600, and third resulted new element, IS911. IS911 is 1,250 base pairs (bp) long, carries 27-bp imperfect terminal inverted repeats, generates 3-bp duplications target DNA on insertion. It was found various copy numbers all four species tested Escherichia coli K-12 but not E. W. Analysis IS911-mediated cointegrate molecules indicated that majority generated without duplication They appeared result direct via one end element neighboring region DNA, which resembles repeat Nucleotide sequence analysis revealed consecutive open reading frames code for potential proteins showing similarities those IS3 group elements.
