摘要: Accurate monitoring of the effectiveness protected areas (PAs) in decreasing deforestation is increasingly important given vital role forest protection climate change mitigation. Recent studies on PA have used remote-sensing imagery to compare rates within PAs surrounding areas. However, data isolation provides limited information factors contributing effectiveness. We landscape-modelling techniques estimate ten Madre de Dios, Peru. Factors influencing were investigated using situ key-informant interviews. Although all studied had positive scores, those with highest scores ecotourism and conservation concessions, where surveillance activities good relations communities reported as possible rates. Native community lowest mainly driven by internal resource use population growth. Weak local governance immigration identified underlying protection, whereas activity increased The results highlight need combine remote sensing management because identification drivers deterrents for improving protection.
